Tuesday 10th August: Seeing through the Social Media hype…

It’s Nott Tuesday time again – they do come round quickly :) This month we have Jason Navon from Clarity Digital. Social Media certainly has been hyped up but what is the reality?

Jason’s talk will be on Social Media: Seeing through the hype:

Social media marketing has become one of the hottest topics in marketing. Countless blogs, trade publications and web commentators are exhorting the benefits of social media to businesses owners. The hype suggests it’s a panacea to many challenges facing brands and businesses. The reality is somewhat different.

This talk looks at the way retailers are using social media and how many of the benefits can work for SMEs who don’t need large budgets to develop dialogues with customers and prospects. The session also looks the the often overlooked processes that any business needs to consider before diving into the social space.

Prior to setting up Clarity Digital, Jason spent 10 years agency-side at McCann Erickson and Fuse Digital advised clients on digital strategies. Clarity Digital are the  first dedicated digital planning and reporting agency outside of London.

So, to summarise:

  1. I’ll definitely be along for this one. I’ve been pushing social media use a lot in our business over the past 6 months or so, and we now have a lot of staff using twitter, facebook, audio, video and text blogs, and it’s working well. I’m sure we’ve still got a long way to go though, and we could be doing it far more effectively than we are.

  2. look forward to this. never heard of jason navon before this. just found him on twitter. ;)
